Fascinating Science Workshops for All

EXPLORING ASTRONOMY - NEXT STEPS
A One-Day Workshop for Astronomy Enthusiasts

A new workshop that makes an ideal follow on to the 'Introduction to Astronomy' workshop.
Whilst the first workshop focusses around the basics of the night sky, telescopes and observation, this workshop examines more of the science behind our remarkable Universe whilst still highlighting where, if possible, these aspects might be observed by the amateur astronomer.
This is designed to be a small relaxed workshop and so, as well as developing a deeper understanding of the science of the Universe,. will also provide an opportunity to also explore and help you to overcome any telescope or observing challenges you may have experienced.
The workshop includes more practical elements to help you get to grips with the concepts we will be exploring.
During the day, we will explore fascinating ideas including:
-
Supernovae
-
Planets, Rings and Moons
-
The Stars and their Energy
-
Black Holes and Neutron Stars
-
The Life Cycle of Stars
-
Exoplanets
-
The Analysis of Starlight
-
Cosmic Rays
-
Galaxies and Galaxy Collisions
As ever, full notes will be provided, and suggestions of where some of these objects can be observed in the real night sky...
